Challenge
The bank's legacy infrastructure created frequent downtime during peak hours, made regulatory reporting a manual, error-prone process, and blocked the rollout of real-time payment rails (RTP/FedNow-style capabilities). Any migration had to happen with zero disruption to daily banking operations and strict adherence to financial data compliance standards.
Solution
Caystard Group designed a phased, zero-downtime migration to a hybrid cloud core banking platform. We containerized legacy modules, built an API gateway layer to decouple core services from channel apps, and implemented automated compliance reporting pipelines. A rigorous parallel-run testing strategy validated data integrity before full cut over.
The engagement began with a 6-week discovery and architecture assessment, mapping every dependency across the bank's core ledger, payments, and reporting systems. Caystard Group's team then built a micro services-based core banking layer on a private cloud, integrated via an API gateway that allowed existing mobile and branch applications to connect without rewrites.
Real-time payment processing was enabled through a new event-driven messaging backbone, replacing nightly batch settlement with continuous processing. Compliance reporting, previously requiring three full-time staff and taking days each month, was automated into a dashboard refreshed hourly.
The migration ran in four phases over 11 months, with parallel legacy and new-system operation during each phase to guarantee data accuracy. Post go-live, the bank reported measurable gains in system reliability, reporting speed, and customer transaction experience.
